the observance gives cities across the state of Georgia an opportunity to promote the role city

government plays in the quality of life of its residents, businesses and visitors. Celebrate the magic of

Thursday, April 19:
Valdosta City Council Meeting

5:30 p.m., Valdosta City Hall, 216 E. Central Avenue

Citizens are invited to attend the City Council meeting as Mayor John Gayle announces the 1
st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of the “If I Were

Mayor, I Would…” sixth
grade essay contest.

Friday, April 20:
The Magic of Downtown Tour and Art After Dark

6 p.m., Valdosta City Hall, 216 E. Central Avenue

Citizens will meet at City Hall at 6 p.m. to take a free guided tour of historical downtown Valdosta. RSVP to (229) 259

takes place during Main Street’s monthly Art After Dark event, allowing citizens to enjoy local art, music, and food.

Farm Days

9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sidewalk around historic courthouse

Downtown will kick off its annual sidewalk farmers market, Farm Days. Visit

Saturday, April 21:
Great American Clean Up

8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Volunteers meet at the staging area, at Serenity Church of Valdosta, 1619 N. Lee Street

The neighborhood selected for this year's clean up is bordered by E. Park Avenue, N. Lee Street, Vallotton Drive, Woodlawn Drive and N.

Customer Service Day

8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Customer Service Center, 102 N. Lee Street

Citizens can enjoy a display of information in the Customer Service Center lobby and learn more about numerous city services and

upcoming activities, while also enjoying complimentary refreshments.

Tuesday, April 24: Mud Creek Wastewater Pollution Control Plant Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

10 a.m., Mud Creek Wastewater Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), 1638 New Statenville Hwy

A ceremony, sponsored by CDM, will celebrate the expansion of the Mud Creek WPCP. This $32 million expansion will meet

the sanitary sewer needs resulting from continued growth in the developing service areas of the city.

Wednesday, April 25:
Job Shadow Day

8 a.m.
1 p.m., at the Valdosta Municipal Court, at 100 S. Oak Street

Twenty
five students from Valdosta High School will job shadow city leaders and give presentations to the Valdosta Mayor, City Council,

and staff at a luncheon at the Valdosta Municipal Court.

Thursday, April 26:
Employee Appreciation Luncheon

1 p.m., John W. Saunders Park, at 1151 Rivers Street

City department heads and elected officials will serve city employees at this annual event to show appreciation for the work city employees

do year
round.

Saturday, April 28:
The Magic of Art

9 a.m., Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts, parking lot on Webster Street

This event allows members of the community to participate in the magical hands
on building of a largescale art piece, which will remain on

display for three to six months for all citizens to appreciate.

Monday, April 30:
City Blood Drive

Noon – 5 p.m., City Hall Annex, Multi
Purpose Room, 300 N. Lee Street

Citizens are invited to help city employees give the gift of life at this Blood Drive and help the city meet its goal of 50 pints.
